Visitors Information
Everything you need to know when visiting your loved ones
At Shalom Home Care, we understand the importance of family and friend visits for our clients' emotional well-being. We've compiled this information to help make your visits as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Visiting Hours
Since our care is provided in clients' own homes, visiting hours are generally flexible. However, we recommend:
- Coordinating with the client or primary family contact
- Considering the client's daily routine and care schedule
- Respecting meal times and rest periods
- Calling ahead if you're planning to visit during early morning or evening hours
Our caregivers are instructed to accommodate visitors whenever possible while ensuring the client's care needs continue to be met.
Visitor Guidelines
To ensure the safety, comfort, and dignity of our clients, we ask all visitors to follow these guidelines:
- If you're feeling unwell, please postpone your visit
- Wash or sanitize your hands upon arrival
- Respect the client's privacy and personal space
- Keep noise levels appropriate for the client's comfort
- Follow any specific care instructions or restrictions
- Coordinate with the caregiver if you wish to take the client out
Our caregivers are there to assist both clients and visitors, so please don't hesitate to ask questions or request help during your visit.
Overnight Accommodations
For family members traveling from out of town:
- Staying overnight at the client's home should be coordinated with the primary family contact
- We can provide recommendations for nearby hotels and accommodations
- For extended family visits, we can adjust care schedules as needed
- We can arrange for additional services during family visits if desired
Please give us advance notice of extended visits so we can ensure our care plan accommodates family presence.
Virtual Visits
For family members who cannot visit in person, we facilitate virtual connections:
- Our caregivers can assist with setting up video calls
- We can help schedule regular virtual visit times
- We provide support for various platforms (FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, etc.)
- Photo and message sharing can be facilitated by our care team
Virtual visits are a wonderful way to maintain connections when in-person visits aren't possible.
Bringing Items to Your Loved One
When bringing items to your loved one, please consider:
- Food items should align with any dietary restrictions
- Medications should be coordinated with the care team
- Personal items and mementos are encouraged
- Space limitations in the client's home
- Safety considerations (trip hazards, etc.)
Our caregivers can help you find appropriate places for gifts and personal items.
Special Occasions
We love to help celebrate special occasions:
- Let us know in advance about birthdays, anniversaries, or holidays
- We can help coordinate small gatherings
- Our caregivers can assist with special meal preparation
- We can help with decorations and setup
- We'll work to accommodate additional visitors for special events
Celebrations and special occasions are important parts of life that we're happy to support.
